Your trip in a nutshell
Itinerary
Day - 1
Arrival in Leh
Arrive at Leh Airport and transfer to your hotel. Spend the day resting and acclimatising to the altitude — this is essential and not to be rushed. In the evening, visit the iconic Shanti Stupa for sweeping views over the city, explore the centuries-old Leh Palace, and wander through the vibrant local market
Day - 2
Monasteries Along the Manali Highway
After breakfast, head south along the Leh–Manali Highway to discover some of Ladakh's finest monasteries. The great Hemis Monastery — Ladakh's largest and wealthiest — stands in stark contrast to the elegant multi-storeyed Thiksey Monastery rising dramatically above the valley floor. Visit the ancient Shey Palace and the famous Rancho School, a filming location that captured the imagination of millions.
Day - 3
The Srinagar Highway
A fascinating day along the Leh–Srinagar Highway. The Hall of Fame offers a deeply moving insight into the Indian Army's sacrifices across multiple wars. Gurudwara Patthar Sahib honours the sacred presence of Guru Nanak Dev, while the Kali Mata Temple at Spituk Monastery offers sweeping valley views. Stand at the Magnetic Hill — where gravity appears to work in reverse — and take in the stunning confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers at Sangam.
Day - 4
Over the World's Highest Pass into Nubra
Cross the mighty Khardung La at 17,582 ft — one of the highest motorable passes on earth — and descend into the surprisingly warm and lush Nubra Valley. The landscape shifts dramatically from barren rock to golden sand dunes framed by towering peaks. Check in and spend the afternoon on a Bactrian camel ride across the dunes or an ATV adventure along the riverbank
Day - 5
Turtuk - Where India Ends
Drive to the extraordinary village of Turtuk — one of the only Balti settlements in India, sitting right on the Line of Control. Opened to tourists only in 2010, this unique village retains a culture and way of life found nowhere else — ancient stone utensils, terraced apricot farms, small Gompas above the Shyok River, and a crumbling old Royal House steeped in history. Continue to Thang, the last village of India, where the Indo-Pakistan border stretches visibly into the distance
Day - 6
The Road to Pangong Tso
A long but magnificent drive through the remote Shyok Valley brings you to Pangong Tso — a lake of extraordinary beauty at 14,000 ft. Stretching 134 km across the Himalayas, more than half lies within Chinese territory, yet the Indian shore is breathtaking enough. Walk along the banks, spot migratory birds, and watch the water change colour from sapphire to silver as the evening light shifts.
Day - 7
Pangong to Leh via Changla Pass
After a final sunrise over the lake, begin the drive back to Leh over the high-altitude Changla Pass — stop for tea at the summit and take in the vast Himalayan panorama. Return to Leh and spend the evening at leisure, soaking in the warmth of this incredible mountain town one last time
Day - 8
Departure
After a final breakfast, transfer to Kushok Bakula Airport for your onward flight — leaving Ladakh behind but carrying its mountains, monasteries, and that impossibly blue lake with you wherever you go
